Local Beaches
Lake Tahoe’s sandy beaches have been providing summer-time entertainment for generations. Get ready for some stunning views of the lake & mountains, and sunshine that lasts all summer long. The water is refreshing cool. People regularly swim in Lake Tahoe, but the best months are July through September when the water warms up to about 65-70 degrees. When you go into the lake, you’ll notice that it’s exceptionally clear, and you’ll come out of the water feeling cleansed & totally reinvigorated.
If you are looking for some family fun, then South Lake Tahoe has a couple very nice beaches. You may enjoy the swimming & sunbathing, or you may just want to relax and enjoy the tranquilty of it all - listening to the water, taking in the wonderful views, and maybe you’ll be their long enough for one of our spectacular sunsets over the mountains.
Nevada Beach
The main beach in the South Tahoe area is Nevada Beach. Nevada Beach is huge. Not only is the beach almost a mile in length, it is the widest Tahoe beach sometimes reaching a whopping 300 yards. Some things to be aware of about this beautiful beach is that shade is lacking so be ready for some sun. This is a popular kite-boarding beach, which is a spectacular sport to watch! It’s large, wide open space and consistent wind make it perfect for the sport. Located 3 miles north of Stateline in the small community of Round Hill, you can reach the beach by taking Highway 50 to Elks Point Road. Nevada Beach is towards the lake, 1/2 mile west of the intersection and the Round hill Shopping Center.
Round Hill Pines Beach
Here’s another popular South Lake Tahoe beach, yet it is smaller and more commercial than Nevada Beach. Some of the amenities available at Round Hill Pines beach include:
